Speakers and Bios:

Victor Meyer is the Global Head of Deutsche Bank’s Third Party Risk Management Remediation Program, reporting to the Group Head of Non-Financial Risk. He plays a key role in the design and implementation of the firm’s “Future State” Third-Party Target Operating Model across both the 1st and 2nd Lines of Defense (LoD). He was formerly responsible Group-wide for the effective risk management of a portfolio of so-called “specialist risk types”, including third-party risk, information and physical security risk, IT risk, operational resilience and crisis management, and data and records risk management. He was the former Group Head of Operational Risk Management and established the firm’s Anti-Fraud Unit (AFU).

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank in 2004, Victor was a U.S. Navy SEAL and was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat “V”.Victor holds a BA in Physics from the US Naval Academy, studied National Security Affairs at the U.S. Naval War College and holds a joint Masters in Business Administration degree from New York University’s Stern School of Business, HEC School of Management in Paris and the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he was formerly a guest lecturer on financial crime. He is a former Vice-Chairman of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Councils for Pandemic and Catastrophic Risk.

Brigadier General Jami Shawley was commissioned as an Army Aviation Second Lieutenant through the United States Military Academy in 1992. She began her career flying AH-1 helicopters in the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea and served at company, battalion and brigade level staff positions in the 3d Infantry Division, Savannah, Georgia. Following the Engineer Officer Advanced Course, Brigadier General Shawley transitioned to Special Equipment Mission Aviation and Army Fixed Wing operations. She commanded a company in the 224th Military Intelligence (Aerial Exploitation) Battalion, conducting Guardrail missions flying Army RC-12s.

Brigadier General Shawley transitioned to the Army Reserve in 2001 and re-entered active duty as an Active Guard Reserve officer in 2006. She served as the Army Reserve Aviation Branch Chief at Human Resources Command and as the Headquarters, Department of the Army, G-3 Aviation Fixed Wing Officer in the Pentagon prior to deploying as a Task Force Air Director in Afghanistan.

Brigadier General Shawley commanded the 2-228th Aviation Regiment as it supported simultaneous split rotations in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan and provided sustained airlift support to Joint Inter-Agency Task Force South throughout the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility.

Following graduation from the National War College, Brigadier General Shawley served as the military advisor to the Department of State, Bureau of Counterterrorism and Countering Violent Extremism and as a senior crisis operations and policy officer for the bureau. She then served as the Assistant Deputy Director in the Joint Staff Strategy, Plans and Policy Directorate (J5)-Africa. Brigadier General Shawley currently serves as the Commanding General, Army Reserve Aviation Command.

Brigadier General Shawley has two master’s degrees and holds a number of awards and badges to include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star and Senior Aviator Badge.

Rajeev Ramchand, PhD is the inaugural Craig Newmark Fellow at the Bob Woodruff Foundation. He comes to the Foundation after serving as Senior Vice President for Research at the Cohen Veterans Network where he established the organization’s research agenda and laid the foundation for conducting research within the network.

Prior to CVN, he worked for 12 years as a behavioral scientist at the RAND Corporation. At RAND, he conducted research on an array of topics including military and veteran mental health, military and veteran caregivers, adolescent delinquency, the impact of disasters on community health, and violent extremism. He has also conducted many studies on suicide and suicide prevention in military, veteran, and civilian populations. This includes epidemiologic studies on risk factors for suicide, evaluations of suicide prevention programs, environmental scans of organizational responses to suicides, and has developed tools to help organizations to evaluate their own programs. While at RAND, he received two RAND Gold Medal Awards for his research on suicide prevention and one Presidential Award, RAND’s highest honor, for his work on military and veteran caregivers.

Dr. Ramchand has authored nearly 100 peer-reviewed publications. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Justice, Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, and private foundations. He has been interviewed by and published op-eds in various media outlets and has provided expert testimony before the United States Congress and California State Senate.

Dr. Ramchand received his B.A. in economics from the University of Chicago and his Ph.D. in psychiatric epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Frank Monterisi, Senior Vice President, Related Companies. Frank J. Monterisi, Jr. is a Senior Vice President of Related Companies. Mr. Monterisi has been responsible for the acquisition and development of luxury residential, commercial, mixed-use and affordable housing in New York City and Chicago. Since joining Related in 2007, Mr. Monterisi has been involved in the development of over 3,000 residential units, $2.5 billion of project cost and 4.0 million square feet of space. He has been involved in the development of projects such as 500 Lake Shore Drive and 111 West Wacker Drive in Chicago and Hunter’s Point South, MiMA and Riverwalk in New York City.

He is a board member of the Long Island City Partnership, YMCA of Greater New York, Jacob Riis Settlement Houses, and Arts in the Armed Forces. Prior to Related, he served as an Officer in the Marine Corps for six years. Mr. Monterisi resigned his commission as a Captain after serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan in 2004. He is a graduate with Honor and Distinction with a Bachelor of Science in History from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and he received his Masters of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts.
